Signage up as Abbey Wood vets move to enable new hotel development
A vets in Abbey Wood has applied signage to their new homes in advance of redevelopment of their current site.
PDSA are moving from Eynsham Drive to a site near Sainsbury’s on Felixstowe Road with a hotel and new housing due set to rise.

Upon completion they will then move back into a new unit on Eynsham Drive.
The current site alongside a long-closed car wash saw revised plans for a hotel and co-living units approved in 2024.
No affordable units will be included. The site developer proposed a payment in lieu contribution of £7,389,873 which is the equivalent of 9-10% of rooms on the site.
In total the site will see a 110 bedroom hotel and 487 co-living rooms.

Fit-out is also ongoing tough they seem a tad geographically challenged, labeling the site as Thamesmead despite it very much being in Abbey Wood.
They also made the same mistake with their site on Eynsham Drive.

Car parking will be interesting. The area is a free-for-all with pedestrianized area outside Sainsbury’s and a Post office shop often full of cars.
The road outside is often parked either side leaving little room to pass. Adding more cars to the mix won’t help.

Rather than an hotel in Abbey Wood surely a affordable housing developments would have been better for the area. Providing much needed affordable homes.
Abbey Wood is not near any major tourist attractions. Another hotel would be better located nearer The 02 or Greenwich..
I agtee build hotels around Greenwich Town Centre and the 02 Arena for tourist and people attending events at the 02 Arena.
An hotel is not really required at Abbey Wood. So tbis site should be for housing. Ideally affordable housing.
