Greenwich riverside tower now rising quickly
Work to build a new riverside tower in Greenwich has made quick progress in recent weeks.
The block has seen its concrete core rise almost to the level of adjacent towers. Upon completion it’ll look similar in appearance to those nearby.

It’s a built-to-rent block and set to feature 300 homes. Plans for the site were first approved in 2015. Revised eight years later in 2023 after no movement on site, it’s finally underway.
Details of the buildings materials have recently been submitted to Greenwich Council.

Some of the photos in this post were taken from the cable car, which has seen a slight price increase to £20 for a ten-trip pass which to me is still cracking value.
The below image shows works have started around constructing the second floor with the core up to around max height.

This is far from the only housing underway in and around the peninsula. In the last week this site has looked at two other plots:
A 431-home development a short distance away beside St Mary Magdalene school.
A smaller block now nearing completion on Blackwall Lane.

The above image shows cladding replacement work underway due to flammable materials on a nearby tower.
In addition further blocks at Greenwich Millennium Village are nearing the finish line. In total that makes at least 1,000 homes now underway.
A development from Fairview homes should also commence soon if the submission of reserved matters are any guide.
Finally there’s been activity at a plot near the o2 at the northwestern side of the peninsula at what is branded Meridian Quays. So far no construction works have begun it appears, but that should follow. It totals 866 homes with the tallest block set to top out at 36-floors in height.

AlwYs great yo see development start on sites that have been left undeveloped for years or even foe decade or more on some sites.
But with all these new homes which are welcomed we must see improvements to public realm and infrastructure to meet the needs of a growing local population in the Borough of Greenwich.
