Greenwich housing on Blackwall Lane near completion

A block of flats on Blackwall Lane in Greenwich is nearing completion and looking all but finished externally.

The site was formerly an MOT center and sits beside the listed Rothbury Hall.

Plans were approved back in 2019 though little happened for some years until work commenced in 2024.

It also sits close to the now sadly closed Meantime brewery.

Rothbury Hall

Rothbury Hall next door was listed in 1995 and dates back to 1893-4. Designed by W T Hollands it’s now home to Emergency Exit Arts.

In total 27 flats are within the new residential block so it’s far from the biggest locally, though does add to an ever growing list of new homes.

A short distance away on the other side of the Blackwall and Silvertown tunnel blocks with 431 homes are also now almost complete. I took a look at those the other day.

Posts about other blocks now rising will follow soon once I’ve sorted out the photograph taken. I’ve taken so many I’ve now almost maxed out my 200gb online storage allowance.

That leads me nicely onto a bit of self-promotion, as I upload photos to my Instagram account.

As for the new block it’s decent enough. Proportions are fine and window sizes are good. Nothing exceptional but nothing to complain about.

  • 27 New Flats will be very much welcomed providing much needed new homes.
I like the size of tbe windows which will let a lot of light in making the new homes feel bright and airy. Which residents tend to like.
Looking forward to seeing other local developments completed over tbe coming months and years around the Borough.
