TfL set to reduce outer London bus route to one per hour

As part of a succession of service reductions TfL have revealed that route 359 will be reducing to an hourly service from this weekend.

The route currently sees buses every 45 minutes and is one of London’s least frequent services, with no buses past 8pm.

It runs six miles between Addington to Purley.

A petition has been set up, which states that the route was every 30 minutes until 2022.

Service reductions

TfL have been reducing service levels at various routes in the recent past, which are often announced shortly before implementation.

TfL revealed this cut just last week with the one bus per hour service set to start this coming Saturday 17th October when Transport UK take over having won the TfL tender.

More widely buses in London have had a torrid few years with declining passenger numbers. This year is little different with budgeted plans for growth not being met and instead a 1.2 per cent fall is in evidence.
