Bexley Council consider new school crossings at sites across borough

Bexley Council are consulting on plans to install four new crossing saround schools in the borough.

The proposed locations are:

  • Danson Lane – outside Bexley Grammar School and Danson Primary School
  • Manor Road – near Shenstone School and St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School
  • Wickham Street – near the junction with Awliscombe Road and outside East Wickham Primary School
  • Halfway Street – near the junction with Burnt Oak Lane and close to Burnt Oak Junior School and Holy Trinity Church of England Primary School

A study assessing road speeds, traffic volumes, pedestrian numbers, previous pedestrian collisions and the difficulty of crossing the road identified these four locations as priorities for improvements.

These improvements in road safety around four schools follow previous changes seen outside Old Bexley Primary School on Hurst Road, St Fidelis Primary School on Bexley Road, Northumberland Heath Primary School on Brook Street and Slade Green Primary School on Slade Green Road.

Residents and nearby properties will be notified of the proposals from Wednesday 14 October. As part of the consultation process, street notices will also be placed at each location.
