Work starts on 27-storey Greenwich tower beside Deptford Creek

Construction work on a forthcoming 27-storey tower in Greenwich is now fully underway.

Developer Your Tribe are behind the student block on Norman Road located not far from the junction with Creek Road. Upon completion it’ll include 414 rooms.

It’s also not too along the creek from Saxon Wharf which this site covered a few days ago. That’s pretty much complete.

There was also a yard to the left in the above photo which saw boats bring aggregates. It was one of the last elements of industry along the creek that required the use of Creek Road lifting bridge. It’s now gone.

The Old Joinery used to be located on site which was in use as bar and venue space until recently.

The site first saw plans in 2019 for a tower which never progressed and later revised.

Last week I took a video of the area panning along the creek, first showing the former aggregates yard and future tower site and then Saxon Wharf.

It’s taken just over the creek on the Deptford side.

The render below shows how it’ll appear viewed from Creek Road looking in the direction of Deptford.

It’s far from the only site from developer Your Tribe in the area.

A recent proposal nearby was recently rejected and they’ve since revised that design.

They also propose 502 rooms above Scott House in Deptford, as well as more than 600 rooms at Sun Wharf on the Deptford side of the creek

Tribe are connected to Aitch group who controversially issued Section 21 eviction notices to around 150 residents living in a Deptford block, before they started marketing it as student accommodation.
