Deptford pub’s old fittings and signage to be sold this weekend
A number of fittings and fixtures including old signage belonging to The Victoria pub are to be sold.
Items for sale include chairs, stools and even an old The Victoria Whitbread pub sign. They state they’ll be holding “a pub garage sale this Saturday from 10am to 2pm Saturday the 17th of Jan. We are about to start refurbishing the pub and want to clear out some of the current fittings and fixtures. Cash only.”
The Deptford pub has recently seen a change of management and will hopefully soon reopen. It was renovated as part of a redevelopment which was called The Timberyard and now known as Deptford Landings.
It’s beside a development which like many has been extremely slow going. Half the site remains vacant more than a decade after plans were approved in November 2015. Lendlease started selling flats on site a whole decade ago.

The overall site has plans for more than 1,100 homes.
Last year an Asda Express opened within one complete block facing Evelyn Street. In summer 2025 summer I took a few photos and intended to add a post to this site but as often happens time was against me.

Still, it does mean when covering stories like this months later there’s always a good few photos to illustrate the area.
One of the smaller plots that has risen is being built by Peabody. That’s Plot 6 of the site. In 2023 plans to alter designs on other plots were approved but they have yet to begin.

After a decade we’ve so far only seen around half the site built out. That slow rate of progress is hitting pubs such as The Victoria.
The sooner following plots commence and become occupied the more footfall to help local business and the hospitality industry.
Hopefully the pub has a bright future under new management and homes quickly follow, rather than another decade of slowly drip feeding new housing.
