Former Eltham pub to become Chinese restaurant

A former pub on Eltham High Street within a listed building will see a Chinese restaurant open.

Golden Chopsticks will be the first tenants for some time at the former Greyhound pub which closed around 2011.

It was once the Yak and Yeti restaurant and had a short stint as the Playhouse Lounge before its license was suspended back in 2020 after an assault.

Earlier this year a plan for five homes to the rear of the 300 year old pub were refused.

In recent weeks another Eltham pub just two doors down closed. The former Wetherspoon named Banker’s Draft was sold by the company and reopened under new ownership but only lasted a couple of years.

  • Again nice to see the empty building being brought back in to use. I think.the Chinese restaurant will do well as Chinese food Is a very popular choice when people eat out.
