TfL bus cut planned alongside Superloop changes at Canary Wharf and Isle of Dogs
TfL have today launched a consultation covering a number of bus changes on the Isle of Dogs including rerouting Superloop route SL4.
The plan would see the withdrawal of route D7 and restructure of routes 135, 277 and D6.

Superloop route SL4 which runs from south east London to Canary Wharf would divert to operate via Canary Wharf Groups expansion to the east at Wood Wharf.
Fewer passengers
The reason for cutting the D7 and changing other routes according to TfL is that fewer people are using buses in the area. The D7 has operated throughout various changes in the area, having commenced back in 1989.
Further alterations include:
“We are proposing to reroute the day and night service on route 277 at Westferry Road via the current 135 routeing. So, this would be via Spindrift Avenue, East Ferry Road, Manchester Road, Marsh Wall and Limeharbour.
“Weekend early morning frequencies would also be increased to have buses running every 12 minutes. We are also proposing to run route 135 along Westferry Road at the junction with Spindrift Avenue and go direct to Crossharbour via East Ferry Road.

“Route D6 would then be rerouted south from Crossharbour via East Ferry Road and Manchester Road to its current line of route at Preston’s Road.
“Route SL4 would be re-routed via new roads currently being constructed to operate through Wood Wharf rather than Trafalgar Way, as originally envisaged.
“Specifically, it would operate from Baffin Way, via Preston’s Road, Charter Street and back to line of route at Cartier Circle. In the opposite direction it would use Charter Street, Preston’s Road and circumnavigate Preston’s Road roundabout to Baffin Way.”

The awkward circular loop the SL4 makes where it loops back on itself and adds time to journeys will remain. That was introduced to serve City Island but does slow down journeys for other passengers on what is an express route.
Further information can be found on the TfL website here where feedback can be given, with consultation running until 16th November.

Alll we are hearing from.TFL Buses is routed being axed and freqencies being cut.
Despite thousands of new homes being buit and local populations growing.
We need to see more bus routes and more frequent services across Greatet London.
Superloop bus routes are not the answer alone we need more local bus services.
Sadiq Kham Labout of London and TFL neex to improve bus services before imposinng more charges and tolls on other road users..

I agree 100% with you Graham. They can start be reinstating thr 472 between Abbey Wood and North Greenwich Station. Serving bus stops not served by superloop route SL11.
