Greenwich Town Hall conversion to residential use underway
Scaffolding now surrounds the former Greenwich Town Hall as work to convert the building into flats gets underway.
A total of 73 homes will be built within the converted building and extension.

Approval was given in 2023. As part of plans access to the clocktower is set to be improved.
Scaffolding on site will be partly covered in a shroud which will feature a 1-1 scale image of the building behind. That’s set to last for 12 months.
More recently known as Meridian House it was completed in 1939. The Grade II listed structure was used as a Town Hall until vacated by the Metropolitan Borough of Greenwich when it merged with Woolwich council. Woolwich Town Hall became the home to both merged authorities.
Borough Hall

Meanwhile at the adjacent Borough Hall – which was built as part of the same complex – plans for a hotel have recently emerged with consultation events undertaken.
It was formerly homes to Greenwich Dance. Plans for a theatre on site were drawn up in 2019 but didn’t progress. Since then its been in use as a hall for hire and home to a church according to a recent 2025 application.

Hi
Thank Goodness they are keeping the building with Repurposing…
So many times we see demolition when we should be seeing Repurposing…
Both Borough Hall and Town Hall have many years left of use
