Crayford social club sees housing and redevelopment plan
An application has been made to Bexley Council for the new housing on the site of a social club in Crayford.
A portion of land would see new homes with revenue enabling the existing club to be renovated. There would be 18 flats, three commercial units and a rvampedsocial club.
The site on Crayford Way is on the edge of the town centre near Cray Gardens. The application states:
“Crayford Social Club has for a number of years dwindling membership numbers and as a direct consequence has been struggling financially, thus threatening its existence.
“After much deliberation the Club’s committee and membership have agreed to sell off the rear portion of the site to a developer.
“The partial sell-off will provide the Club with funds to secure its long-term future and make improvements to the retained accommodation.
“The developer proposes the construction of two additional floors above the existing building to create 18 No. Flats. Four flats will have a single bedroom, seven flats will have two bedrooms, and seven flats will have three bedrooms.”
Being town centre location residents would have good public transport options with numerous bus routes and Crayford station in walking distance.
