New Plumstead college building now complete as part of mixed-use development
A new £45 million college building in Plumstead is now complete.
Located close to Woolwich and branded as Greenwich College by London South East College (LSEC), it replaced a former college as part of a new mixed-use development.

It also went by the name Woolwich College for some years. The college merged with Bromley and Bexley colleges in the 2010s becoming LSEC.
While works have been ongoing to build new homes and the college building facing onto Plumstead Road, a section of the old college remained to the rear. That will be demolished with new housing on site.

Upon completion of the overall plot 282 homes will have been constructed.
In recent weeks raised planters have been installed outside (which are already tagged).

Transport
As an aside the new SL11 bus doesn’t stop beside new homes and the college. The previous bus it recently replaced wholesale rather than enhance as elsewhere with London’s Superloop network – the 472 – did stop.
It sits close to Plumstead station (near where almost 2,000 further homes are underway at Lombard Square) and stations in Woolwich.
Welcoming staff to new campus last month, Dr Sam Parrett CBE said: “We are absolutely delighted have the keys for our outstanding new campus. This is such an important milestone for both the College and for Greenwich.

“When we took on the college a decade ago, we committed to securing its future – recognising the importance of it as a training and skills provider for our local communities. Seeing the new campus today is a very proud moment for us all.
“We are hugely grateful to the many partners who have helped make this happen, including the Royal Borough of Greenwich, the GLA, the DfE, L&Q, our contractor Kier and the many other professional construction partners.
“We look forward to welcoming everyone who has been involved onto the campus in the coming weeks, with students on site from half term.”
