Thamesmead industrial site set for demolition
Plans have been submitted to demolish a number of industrial buildings at a site on Nathan Way in Thamesmead.
It’s the latest plan along the road to redevel sites and follows a submission to build a new bus garage made last year.
The future intention of this specific site is unknown. No plans to developer have yet been made. All that’s popped up is this demolition plan.
The site at 71-73 Nathan Way is home to a number of businesses with some related to cars repair and MOTs.
The wider area is quite odd as it’s long been planned to be an industrial area yet many sites have sat vacant for years. Greenwich Council spent millions creating the White Hart Triangle site which has been a flop since work was undertaken 25 years ago alongside Tilfen Land. Tilfen then became part of Peabody 12 years ago.
The site on Nathan Way that has seen demolition plans sits close to a major residential development branded “Lombard Square”.
That will total almost 2,000 homes when complete with the first flats now being occupied by residents.

Sad news for local jobs, but maybe good news for the Ridgeway as there is a big problem with flytipping on the Ridgeway directly opposite this industrial estate.
Sadly it will be years before any work starts on the site to.demolish the existing buildings and build new developments on the site. There are rumours of a new bus garage in Thamesmead to meet the demand for new infrastructure to install electric charging points and battery storage for new electric buses
I think both Go Ahead London and Stagecoach London need more larger garage spaces to install more electric charging points to charge electruc buses. .
I hope Greenwich Council and the developers will work with existing businesses to find them new suitable business units in the Borough for them to move in to. To help safeguard existing and encourage jobs and apprenticeships in the Borough
Where do they want people to work two important industrial sites face closing in charlton & nathan way
Absolutely Damatol I thought the Government”s aim was to get a lot more people back into work and off of benefits. So they need to create new business spaces and industrial areas for business to ooerate from.. while creating new job opportunities..
I too hope the businesses on this site will be found new locations with in the Borough.
