Works begins on next Greenwich tower
Cranes are up as work begins on a new tower on Greenwich peninsula 11 years after plans were first approved.
The blocks sits within the “Lower Riverside” part of the wider 17,500-home masterplan being led by developer Knight Dragon. A total of 300 flats are within the plot.
Having seen a bit of movement on site recently I thought it’d be handy to get on the cable car to see from above and the site is definitely now well underway.

It’s now well over a decade since plans emerged for a tower with approval given in 2014. In 2023 Knight Dragon submitted revised plans with zero affordable housing stating they would mitigate elsewhere across the peninsula. They stated they would build imminently. Finally it has commenced.

A nearby plot containing 431 homes has recently been built as just about seen to the right in the above image.
Theatre
It’s not the only activity witnessed whilst ascending the cable car as temporary units are being removed in advance of a temporary theatre set to arrive on what has been a coach park.
Plans for the theatre were recently covered.

Elsewhere in Greenwich work may begin next month on a site from developer Fairview (just about seen in the above image near the yellow footbridge across the A102.
Other sites with activity include a plot just west of North Greenwich bus garage. With news about towers on the former gasholder site total dwellings now proposed across the peninsula sit around 25,500.
A few miles west in Greenwich a student tower beside Deptford Creek could have started given timescales in submitted planning documents. Maybe it has but I havn’t passed in a while. If so, let me know.
