Greenwich Troubadour Theatre plan submitted twin venues, bars and restaurant

Plans for a temporary theatre have been submitted on Greenwich peninsula with planning documents appearing online this week.

The structure would contain two venues each with 1,500 capacity across four floors alongside two bars and a 100+ cover restaurant.

Not all the coach park will be used for main structure

Troubadour Theatres are set to operate the venue, with another 1,200-capacity Troubadour theatre set to open in Canary Wharf any day now at the estates expansion on Wood Wharf.

Space allocated for the Greenwich theatre is currently part of a coach park, which is set to move to another spot on the peninsula.

Frontage

A main entrance is located facing the Thames, while the Design and Access Statement says “At night the north-west corner of the foyer facade is conceived as a ‘lantern’, drawing visitors in and clearly singposting the foyer volume.”

Cable car

Located next to the cable car it may well provide a bit more custom for the crossing. As venues and housing have built up the cable car has done decently well in the past couple of years. While pretty hopeless as a commuter option, for leisure use it links a number of venues including the o2 to the south and hotels, restaurants, and attractions to the north.

It’s pretty close to Excel which now has specific events space of its own, with an exhibition on F1 earlier this year to give one example. There’shttps://www.excel.london/visitor/whats-on currently on and in the near future.

The old line that the cable links “nothing to nothing” is now well out of date.
