Funding agreed for major Abbey Wood development

Funding totalling £122 million has been announced to push forward a major development in Abbey Wood close to the station.

The site at Eynsham Drive has long been vacant since a car wash on site closed despite planning permission. The first approval was given back in 2018. Now Maslow Capital is providing £122million development finance the developer Definition Capital.

Vets and car wash site undeveloped for many years

This site’s latest plan sees 487 co-living units alongside a 110-room hotel. A PDSA vets will be located within the new development.

The site will see a total of four buildings ranging from a 17-storey block down to a three-storey building.

It’s located opposite Peabody’s Southmere Village in south Thamesmead – which is the only plot out of seven they’ve managed to complete in 12 years of control across Thamesmead.

The borough boundary and border between Thamesmead and Abbey Wood sits between the two plots. Southmere Village phase two is also underway a short distance away.

  • Take it that more new apartments are to be built near to Abbey Wood station and with plans to extend the DLR to Thamesmead to redevelop the whole entire area around Thamesmead and Abbey Wood in Southeast London.
