Southeastern celebrate station improvements

Southeastern have completed a number of projects to upgrade stations across the network.

A total of £9.2 million has been spent across 134 stations on deep cleaning and painting alongside new seating, shelters and toilets.

The company have listed a number of projects including:

  • £400,000 invested on new toilets at Tonbridge, Bearsted, Ramsgate, Westcombe Park, Greenwich and St Mary Cray.
  • £375,000 spent on more than 230 new seats across the network.
  • £366,000 for a major refurbishment of Kearsney and Shepherds Well stations with new facilities electrics, lighting and flooring.
  • £862,248 invested in improved and refurbished waiting facilities.
Blackheath station with heritage colour scheme introduced

Refurbishment to restore heritage features at Blackheath and Greenwich have also been undertaken in the recent past.

Work at both included a heritage cream and green colour scheme alongside platform canopy restoration.

  • Perhaps other railway stations on the Southeastern network in Kent and East Sussex that aren’t step-free could be upgraded to have lifts installed or ramps installed to make the station more step-free friendly stations.

    • If there was money available, they would. Unfortunately there isn’t as we try to extricate ourselves from the last decade and a half of financial misrule

      • Perhaps you’re right. But I still think that Southeastern should still upgrade some station which aren’t step-free to make those stations step-free friendly. Whether if they do get more money to improve their stations on their network in Kent.
