Thames Path improvements coming to Erith
A council report due before a meeting next week reveals that plans are afoot to improve the Thames Path in Erith.
Income from new developments in the form of Section 106 funding will be used near Riverside Gardens.
The report states that “following the refurbishment of Riverside Gardens, the enhancement of the adjacent Thames Path emerged as an area for improvement.
This area is currently unwelcoming and poorly lit but provides a key walking and cycling route to the Gardens and Erith town centre.
“Relevant Section 106 funding will be allocated to these improvements. Preliminary discussions are underway to scope potential improvements”

The gardens themselves have seen an upgrade which the report states will conclude next month.
Work was undertaken after design work from Erect Architecture and local gardening community group FORGE.
The wider Greater Erith Regeneration Programme sees funding from developers via Section 106, the Community infrastructure Levy, the GLA’s Good Growth Fund (which is also funding the Plumstead underpass work currently underway), TfL’s Local Implementation Plan which sees an annual amount allocated to all London authorities plus council capital funding.
A number of housing projects are also proposed alongside road changes.
