Greenwich Christmas market lantern parade today

A lantern parade is to be held today to kick off a series of Christmas markets.

The event is on between 4pm – 6pm so unfortunately many people at work will be forced to miss the event.

The town’s Christmas market lights will also be switched on.

Recently the authority were stating they sought more late night life in the town, so this flies in the face of that.

They were given money for events held into the evening by the Mayor of London, held one event (that still ended pretty early) and are now back to events many will be forced to miss.

Entertainment will on offer, but it’s all over by 6pm.

The events starts at the Royal Naval College sites, heads to the Cutty Sark then the market.

Maybe less money on fencing off large areas of town centres and more on community events that run later supporting local business?

    • No money for Blackheath fireworks or even this event running to a decent time but money for a big fence in Woolwich for weeks. Amazing priorities!

Why not give local performers a few quid for performances past 6pm? More money for locals and more visitors to help local shops?

They also probably didn’t want to disrupt drivers. This IS “Royal Greenwich” after all 🙂
