Consultation underway on next phase of Convoys Wharf in Deptford

It may be 10 years and counting without a single home yet built but a consultation has launched on another plot at the 3,500-home Convoys Wharf project.

This time it’s Plot 12 at the entrance of the site closest to Deptford High Street. Click here to view consultation plans. Comments must be made by 30th November.

Approved plots comprise small amount of site

Other plots were approved earlier this year.  Plot 15 will see 124 homes, Plot 8 has 456 new homes and commercial space for cafés, restaurants and shops while Plot 22 is the jetty on the Thames.

A Thames Clipper stop is planned alongside the jetty. I do wonder if Thames Clippers will ever serve it. Just about every Thames side development claims they will have one. There’s been plans for three on the west side of Greenwich Peninsula alone – one beside the intercontinental hotel, one at Morden Wharf and one beside Enderby Wharf.

Indicative view of towers on Convoys Wharf site

Add in one at Charlton Riverside, another mooted at Silvertown nearer Canning Town and who knows how many others in a short stretch.  It seems to be cheap way to gain approval for plots rather than invest in transformative infrastructure such as the now scrapped pedestrian and cycling bridge from Rotherhithe to the Isle of Dogs.

I've lived in south east London most of my life growing up in Greenwich borough and working in the area for many years. The site has contributors on occasion and we cover many different topics. Living and working in the area offers an insight into what is happening locally.
