Proposal for 18-room Aparthotel at former Woolwich pub refused
Earlier this year this site covered plans for the Lord Raglan pub in Woolwich to be extended and see an 18-room aparthotel on site.
That plan has since been refused by Greenwich Council.
It’s not exactly breaking news and I only discovered the refusal whilst researching a couple of other Woolwich pubs.
Reasons for refusal include the extension being “a dominant and discordant feature on the host property” and that “would lead to an excessive loss of outlook and increase in sense of enclosure for the occupiers of nos. 28 and 30 Ragland Road and 160 Burrage Road.”
The former pub has been up for rent and this link shows a few internal photos of various rooms including the main bar.
As for other Woolwich pubs sitting vacant the Anglesea Arms is looking ever worse after demolition plans were rejected whilst the Bull Tavern is looking forlorn with the wrecking balls are due any day.

Greenwich borough’s Planning Board approved demolition as part of a major development the council have a stake in located behind the new Woolwich Waves leisure centre, with earlier proposals to retain the pub frontage later dropped.
