Greenwich Borough Hall sees hotel plan emerge

Hotel plans for Greenwich Borough Hall have emerged with public events to be held soon.

Greenwich Council sold the listed building to Lita Homes for £2.475 million in 2024 with Greenwich Dance having left in 2018.

Frontage

Plans for a theatre were drawn up in 2019 but later scrapped. In the recent past it’s been in use as a hall for hire and home to a church according to a retrospective 2025 application.

It’s been on an at-risk register since 2022.

Hotel plan

Emerging hotel plans would see a rooftop extension alongside a restaurant, bar, café and small events space.

It appears the main hall would be used for a bar and restaurant.

A public event showing plans is to be held at Greenwich West Community Centre on Friday 17th July between 3pm and 7:30pm.

Neighbouring plan

The Borough Hall was built as part of a larger complex which also included Greenwich Town Hall.

Conversion plans to residential usage were approved for that building which like the hotel plans at the Borough Hall also include a rooftop extension.

Town hall conversion plans approved

In total 73 flats are planned on site.

As part of work access to the clocktower is due to be improved.

  • Turning the Greenwich Borough Hall in to an hotel with a restaurant, bar and Cafe would make sense. As is in the tourist area of Greenwich with a lot of footfall.

Other plans for hotels in sone parts of the Borough would probably be a better use of site to change the plans from hotel to housing as some are planned in residential.areas like plumstead and Abbey Wood which needs new homes.
