Blackwall tunnel full southbound weekend closure for Greenwich bridge demolition

The Blackwall tunnel will close all weekend from 24th to the 26th June for southbound traffic to demolish a footbridge.

Northbound traffic will still be able to drive through the tunnel though a diversion will be in place. Similar measures caused long delays when a new bridge was installed.

Bus route 108 will not cross the Thames for the duration of weekend works.

A further weekend closure from 8th to 10th July is expected for further work though is not confirmed yet by Transport for London.

New wider bridge span

A new bridge was installed in recent months to allow more traffic lanes below as part of Silvertown Tunnel work.

I've lived in south east London most of my life growing up in Greenwich borough and working in the area for many years. The site has contributors on occasion and we cover many different topics. Living and working in the area offers an insight into what is happening locally.
