Woolwich Works to host Michael Jackson night

Woolwich Works is set to host a Michael Jackson tribute next month as part of its summer programme.

The event is on Saturday 6th June.

According to the council owned venue it’ll be “starring CJ, one of the world’s top Michael Jackson Tribute Artists, and supported by a talented cast, this show captures the essence of Michael Jackson’s unique style and charisma. Enjoy all his greatest hits, including “Thriller”, “Billie Jean”, “Beat It,” “Smooth Criminal” and “Man in the Mirror.”

And remember, he was never convicted…

Also on is a Eurovision watch party tomorrow night (Saturday 16 May).

During the summer there’s a fair bit of “worthy” and niche stuff. Which I like! But it could put on a bit more to attract the masses as the crowd pleasers are pretty thin on the ground.

It’s always been interesting how they balance events, with probably too much niche stuff given they’ve been struggling financially ever since opening. I mean, would it kill them to get a few bands or artists on that are heard on national radio stations. Maybe I’m too much of 6music dad but loads of acts that tour aren’t being put on.

Maybe it wouldn’t work but they’ve never really tried. I have pretty esoteric taste but still find little that appeals.

As an aside they’re pushing the fact you can reach the venue by Thames Clipper boats (or Uber boats if you like) but really, that’s a niche pursuit as nice as the boat is.

For those across London push that you’re seconds from an Elizabeth line station and a few minutes from a station served by Southeastern, Thameslink and the DLR!

And as for locals they could do much better at putting the word out. I feel like I’m doing their work half the time covering events. It’s a great space and venue so do go visit.

  • All the people in history and they go for one with a lot of peado allegations. Bold choice.
