Elizabeth line entirely suspended after power failure

The entire Elizabeth line is not currently running (Sat 2 May) due to a power failure according to TfL.

The closure impacts all branches and the central core leading to crowding on a number of other lines.

The issue began late this afternoon and writing this at 5:40pm there is as yet no estimate for a resumption of services.

Tickets can be used on:

  • South Western Railway between London Waterloo – Reading
  • London Overground via any reasonable route
  • Docklands Light Railway via any reasonable route
  • Southeastern between Abbey Wood – London Terminals
  • Thameslink between Abbey Wood – Farringdon GWR via any reasonable route
  • London buses

  • When is the 10 Class 345/x due to enter service that Elizabeth Line have ordered and to increase the capacity of trains from 70 9-Car trains to 80 9-Car Class 345 trains on the Elizabeth Line.

Not just a Cross Rail related power failure… a *national* power outage across much of the rail network (good to know that the country’s critical infrastructure is so resilient, NOT!).

  • A power failure that cause the entire Elizabeth Line network to grind to a halt or caused severe disruptions on the Elizabeth Line. Thameslink also had or do have lots of major disruptions especially when it comes to a broken down train or signaling failures. But it’s just the new norm of London’s transport having to deal with major delays and disruptions. It can also have a knock effect on other transport.
