Bexleyheath line closure: Race to completion

Well, not quite a race but a stroll as according to those in the know, work by Network Rail to upgrade an embankment in Barnehurst is on time to complete despite a torrid week or weather.

Network Rail come in for much criticism but must be praised for excellent communication throughout the work.

I know some local people have complained about noise but a major project impacting and improving journeys for many thousands of people daily will result in some disruption. As someone who has lived alongside railway lines in two towns, and had piling noise through the night for periods of time, there’s no way around it and it’s for the greater good.

While the line was closed station refurbishment has also been underway at Bexleyheath, Welling and Falconwood stations.

So then, after all, what’s the betting of a signal failure at Lewisham on Monday morning? *insert wink emoji here*

I've lived in south east London most of my life growing up in Greenwich borough and working in the area for many years. The site has contributors on occasion and we cover many different topics. Living and working in the area offers an insight into what is happening locally.
