Bus catches fire in Greenwich

There was disruption this morning in east Greenwich after a bus caught fire.

It was believed to be a 422 which went up in flames. Luckily the adjacent building to the bus is set back from the road.  The development on the old Greenwich hospital site has the most dangerous form of flammable ACM cladding and is seeing panels replaced.

Cladding being removed

Traffic was disrupted but is now flowing well.

TfL have not given a cause of the fire. No one was injured.

I've lived in south east London most of my life growing up in Greenwich borough and working in the area for many years. The site has contributors on occasion and we cover many different topics. Living and working in the area offers an insight into what is happening locally.

  • Good news that no one was injured in this incident. I hope the bus driver and passengers are all okay as incidents like this can be very unnerving for some people.
