Blackwall tunnel closed in both directions
The Blackwall tunnel is currently closed in both directions due to a “equipment failure”.
Heavy traffic is already backing up northbound through Greenwich and in heading southbound almost as far as the Bow flyover.
Silvertown tunnel is open but very heavy traffic is seen on both north and south approaches.
Buses are liable to long delays.
Meanwhile the Woolwich ferry is suspended due to high winds according to TfL.
UPDATE: The tunnel has now reopened.
