Thameslink cancels Greenwich line rail service all day
Thameslink have cancelled all rail services on line through Greenwich today.
Removal of the two trains per hour ensures busy inner London stations such as Deptford and Greenwich see trains only every 30 minutes. Trains between the Elizabeth line at Abbey Wood and stations in Kent such as Dartford and beyond to Rainham also will only run every 30 minutes.
Both areas are seeing substantial housing growth.

Once again we’ll see many pile off the Elizabeth line at Abbey Wood then long waits for onward connection.
Oddly Thameslink state all trains are cancelled due to issues in Dartford though Southeastern mention no problems on their website.

Cuts
Whatever the reason it’s yet another problem with Thameslink on the line, which when added to Southeastern cuts in 2022 ensures a poor service frequency for densely built-up and growing towns in Deptford, Greenwich, Dartford and beyond including Medway towns.
A poor Thameslink service with daily cancellations – often labelled as “planning errors” – combined with Southeastern cuts has adversely impacted services.
Those cuts back in 2022 are still in place despite Labour opposing in opposition.

Now in power they’ve retained them despite apparent support for new housing and related transport links. These cuts serve towns with high levels of new housebuilding.
Southeastern have been government-controlled since 2021. Cuts on the line are not being reversed in the next timetable change this month so will remain until at least May 2026 – almost two years since Labour gained power.

Points failure at Dartford preventing through trains. Hardly down to Thameslink.
“Points failure preventing through trains at Dartford” Yet SE were running as normal through Dartford as already mentioned below.
It was also mentioned to me at the station yesterday that there was an issue in the core.
Another one this morning too. If it’s not issues in the core or north London impacting services in south east London it’s those regular “planning errors”. This wouldn’t be so bad if SE metro didn’t see cuts.
SouthEastern were managing fine in Dartford. Is this due to operational inflexibility of Thameslink again on the line.?
Let’s be honest they shut up shop at any given reason on the line.
That with reduced bus services between Kdb and Woolwich, happy days in the world.of transports. And they want us to take public transport, can someone explain me how if there isn’t any expensive services?
It’s the residents of Higham that I feel sorry for, as southeastern control centre’s attitude when staff on the ground contact them asking for special stops on the high-speed, is “It’s Thameslink’s problem now, let them put buses on.”
Well actually it’s not Thameslink’s problem, it’s still a southeastern station on the southeastern network, with a southeastern ticket office clerk.
