Woolwich shop raided by police and forced to close

A mobile phone shop in Woolwich has been forced to close after a raid last week resulted in seven arrests.

Police raided the shop on Green’s End at General Gordon Square resulting in seven arrests for handling stolen goods.

All seven have since been bailed while investigations continue.

The raid was conducted last Thursday 16 October. A hearing tomorrow (Tuesday 21 October) at Bexley Magistrates Court will decide on a Closure Order after the premises was issued with a Closure Notice.

That prohibited any customers entering the shop until the hearing.

A Closure Notice under Section 80 – ii approved tomorrow – can then force closure for up to three further months.

I walked past the scene and thought the police was dealing with a robbery, although I did think there was an excessive number of police vans.
