Deptford park taking shape after Thames Tideway completion
Work to restore green space to Deptford is progressing well over recent weeks after the completion of Thames Tideway work.
For some years the entire area near St Paul’s church was a large construction compound but is now returning to its former use – albeit landscaped in a different fashion.

Note the four ventilation shafts visible above. These can also just about be made out in the main image.
Changes to Deptford Church Street are also underway running beside the park. Construction had reduced road width from two lanes to one in each direction which will mostly be retained.

New cycle lanes are being installed alongside additional crossings.
A look at those changes was recently covered on this site.

The newly constructed tunnel cost £5 billion and was fully connected in February.

Note how an existing sewer is intercepted removing waste water during storms before its directed to Greenwich pumping station.
Work around Greenwich pumping station saw path width restrictions around the Ha’penny Hatch across the creek.
Landscaping work is also underway on the Greenwich side though of a much more limited variety than in Deptford.
Much of the Greenwich construction site beside Norman Road looks set to return to industrial usage, though work continues on housing development Saxon Wharf just to the north.
Quite the change then around Deptford which will continue in future with planned pedestrianisation of Deptford High Street as well as a 31-floor tower on the nearby Lewisham College site.
Two other projects apparently stuck in long-term limbo are Sun Wharf beside the creek alongside Laban Centre expansion alongside a new residential tower.

Great info keep it coming all the best to those who repor👍Deptford
It’s a disgrace they’ve left the road in that state after years of work ms destroyed the surface. It’s impossible to cycle or drive in it
