Train services hit by flooding at City Thameslink
A burst water main has closed City Thameslink station with no services expected to stop all day.
Trains are able to run though at reduced speeds which could have knock on delays throughout the day.

Suggested alternatives include Blackfriars station to the south (the closest on foot) and Farrindon to the north.
Thameslink state: “To help reduce disruption caused by flooding, Thameslink work with Network Rail to ensure pumps and flood barriers are in place, and we also jointly plan for the impact of severe weather. Their control room staff monitor reports of excess water and ensure staff are sent to deal with this is as quickly as possible.”
It’s the second issue on the network with an ongoing reduction in available tracks between Three Bridges and Gatwick Airport since a landslip last week.
Disruption is expected throughout this week with specific services impacted today being:
- No Southern services between Redhill and Gatwick Airport.
- Gatwick Express services only running between London Victoria and Gatwick Airport.
- Thameslink services which run between Bedford and Three Bridges (stopping services via Redhill) will instead run between Bedford and Gatwick Airport.
- No peak time services between Bognor Regis and London Bridge, and Littlehampton and London Bridge.
Dear oh dear, Shepherds Bush Green is also shut off because a water main burst right in the middle of all those lanes this morning. You’d think our infrastructure would be able to let some kettle water be drawn in the mornings without blasting through the roads or tunnels. Thank you for the update, I will revise my timetable accordingly.
