Thanks to all readers as site breaks new readership record last month

Just a quick post here to thank those who read the site, email, writes comments and spread the word as last month saw the most visits in a decade.

It’s all the more surprising as August is often a quite month.

When I started this as a way to pass time in a boring dead-end job many years ago I didn’t expect it to become popular whatsoever. And despite me hardly being much of an expert on technical matters, it’s all pretty much a on-man band.

I’d also like to thank all those who support me financially and via messages. I’m massively grateful.

Major changes in Lewisham have proved very popular in terms of readership numbers

This month too looks off to a flyer. Posts on reopening a long-closed railway siding in Plumstead and a bit about Southeastern railway have proved popular and I’ve followed up with a post just now about one of south east London’s most visible – and controversial – developments in Lewisham.

So once again thanks to all readers and those who pay a few quid monthly for which I’m eternally grateful. If you want to donate to help with running costs and my living expenses it’s always a big help, and you can via Petreon here, Paypal here or Ko-Fi here.

Thank you all so much.

I've lived in south east London most of my life growing up in Greenwich borough and working in the area for many years. The site has contributors on occasion and we cover many different topics. Living and working in the area offers an insight into what is happening locally.

    • The difference between this site and places like News Shopper is night and day: actual, useful news written from scratch, and a comments section devoid of the hate that seems to be a fixture of all the traditional local outlets. A true public forum for civilised discussion of local matters.

  • We get very informative articles and true facts from John on this site. Which we would otherwise not get to hear about from anyone else.
Your amazing John. Congratulations and well done.

  • Reading this site has become a daily ritual for me. Having been born and raised in Plumstead for all my life (60 years) I have seen many changes and wonder at my surrounding area’s developments.
I like the way you highlight the good as well as the ill conceived. Thanks for your dedication, it’s very much appreciated.

  • Thank you JSmith. This site keeps me informed about what is happening in Lewisham Borough where I live, and in adjoining Greenwich. If I hadn’t seen it here first, I wouldn’t have known that bus routes through Lewisham town centre were going to be diverted via Molesworth and Rennell Streets. There was certainly no notice at the Lewisham Centre bus stop before the yellow closed sign finally appeared.

  • Hi I do like your website and the information you post regularly. The only downside is that adverts popping up whenever I do use your website and I just think it’s annoying. I understand that you want to promote advertising on your website and to make money out of it. But other times I think it would be easier to remove advertisements from your website. Still keep up the good work.

    • Hi I get that. I have tried removing some but my income falls so much and I can hardly afford that as not flush at the best of times. Ideally website owners would get a fair deal from ads.
