Greenwich Park transformation: Events on in coming month

Events are to be held by the Royal Parks looking at a £12 million Greenwich Park transformation currently underway.

A wide range of projects are ongoing across the park with one of the most visible being “Giant Steps” in front of the General Wolfe statue.

The Greenwich Park Revealed event starting next Monday will look at the project which spans four years.

Visitors will be able to see a “multimedia showcase” in a new Learning Centre built as part of the project. Events include “Archaeological Finds Processing” between 11:30am – 3:30pm most days next week.

An Archaeological Guided Walk will take place at 3:00pm next Friday 16th August.

The Royal Parks also promise “displays of archaeological finds, photos, video, interactives, and much more”.

The event this month lasts from Monday 12th August until Sunday 24th August and a full list of events can be found here.

The Giant Steps are almost complete with new trees planted either side at its base.

In addition a new area at Vanbrugh Yard in the south east corner of the park was created with a café at Vanbrugh Lodge.

Alongside that a café was refurbished earlier this year and is now reopen.

I've lived in south east London most of my life growing up in Greenwich borough and working in the area for many years. The site has contributors on occasion and we cover many different topics. Living and working in the area offers an insight into what is happening locally.
