Live music venue The Tail set to open in Catford

A 300-capacity music venue named The Tail is set to open in Catford next year.

The venue is part of Lewisham’s Borough of Culture 2022 and will also see public realm improvements on Holbeach Road.

Lewisham state the venue will make use of the space and include “new trees, planting, seating and a pedestrianised area enabling pop-up events and street markets to take place.

With funding from the Mayor of London, works to deliver this new public space will be complete in 2022, allowing music events at The Tail to make use of this outside area”

Catford Mews is seeing renovation and will include the new venue alongside a cinema.

Road network will see major changes in years to come

After many years of talk, new plans for Catford town centre are finally taking shape including new homes on retail sheds and car parks alongside alterations to the one-way system.

The venue adds to an increase in venues in south east London, with Woolwich Works opening last month which incorporates a number of venues.

I've lived in south east London most of my life growing up in Greenwich borough and working in the area for many years. The site has contributors on occasion and we cover many different topics. Living and working in the area offers an insight into what is happening locally.

  • It is good to hear Catford Mews and Holbeach Road is finally getting renovated after several years of taking about it.
    .
I think a new cinema and a live music venue at the Tail in Catford will be a great success when they open after works completed.
