Woolwich ‘Sustainable Streets’ changes to start on 30 November
A range of changes across Woolwich being introduced as part of a ‘Sustainable Streets’ programme will begin on 30th November.
At one stage much of the borough was to see changes as part of the programme but the vast majority were dropped leaving just Woolwich.
Back in August I covered the Woolwich section when it was approved. Parking restrictions will extend in places.

Funding
In August a council report stated enhancements to Car Club provision may follow with electric charging infrastructure and secure cycle storage. Funding from Transport for London’s annual Local Implementation Plan fund would pay for it.
Costs for parking changes were estimated at £288,000. The authority expects income to be “within a range of £100,000–£150,000 per annum.
“Any surplus income received from this scheme will be spent on transport related activities in accordance with the relevant legislation.”
Councillor Calum O’Byrne Mulligan, Cabinet Member for Transport, Climate Change, Waste and Streets, said:
“We are making sure local residents can park by their homes with resident permits, managing parking demand and creating safer, greener and more accessible streets through the wider Sustainable Streets scheme with EV charging points, bike hangars, increased planting and more.
“All residents and businesses who are eligible for a permit should apply apply before 30 November to make sure they have the appropriate arrangements in place before the new parking controls come into effect.
“We will continue to keep residents and businesses informed as the scheme is introduced and provide information to help people understand the new parking arrangements in their area.”
