Woolwich Sustainable Streets project set to see green light
A range of changes to streets in Woolwich are set to be introduced after Greenwich Council published a report into the matter.
You may recall that a large part of the borough was set to see “Sustainable Streets” though almost all areas were dropped following a 2025 consultation except for Woolwich.
The report recommends the council proceeds with Woolwich only, stating:
“The analysis demonstrates that the greatest need for Sustainable Streets interventions is in the Woolwich area, where there is clear evidence that improvements are required not only on roads that are currently uncontrolled, but also on streets already within existing Controlled Parking Zones.”
As part of the plan some parking zones will extend to seven day a week restrictions in some areas.

Future changes could see enhancements to Car Club provision, electric charging infrastructure and secure cycle storage. Funding from Transport for London’s annual Local Implementation Plan fund would pay for it.
All in all it appears changes will be pretty modest following a huge amount of discussion last year.
Costs for parking changes are estimated at £288,000. The authority expects income to be “within a range of £100,000–£150,000 per annum.
“Any surplus income received from this scheme will be spent on transport related activities in accordance with the relevant legislation.”
