Elizabeth line tunnel closed for safety reasons

There’s severe disruption on the Elizabeth line this afternoon (Monday 10 August) due to a tunnel being closed for safety reasons.

Transport for London state the tunnel is on the south western branch to Heathrow located between Hayes & Harlington and the airport. A flood has occurred limiting trains.

TfL state people should use the Piccadilly line to reach Heathrow. Looking at services it appears every Elizabeth line service to the airport is currently not running.

Heathrow Express services are also impacted with a very limited service. Network Rail have stated major disruption is expected until the end of the day.

  • I also think it has caused some disruption to not just the Elizabeth Line and Heathrow Express. But it also has caused some disruptions to GWR commuter service that operates from London Paddington to Reading, Newbury and Didcot Parkway using Class 387s.
