Greenwich’s Secret Cinema structure completes
A structure which will be the home of Secret Cinema is now externally complete on Greenwich peninsula.
The building will be in place for a decade with these photos taken last week from the Cable Car. Internal fit-out is currently underway.
Covering progress was on my to do list when it came to writing a new post for the site but that was sped up when I noticed a planning application for the site uploaded this week.

The 1,500-capacity building was approved in July 2026. Their website claims a late 2026 opening.
Next door there’s approved plans for Troubadour Theatre located closer to the Cable Car.
Despite being approved before Secret Cinema it’s yet to commence. An opening date of 2027 is given. It will include two 1,500-capacity auditoriums.

The above photograph also shows a new tower beside the Thames. Cladding is now starting to appear and upon completion it’ll look near-identical to its neighbouring tower built around 15 years ago.
Eventually developer Knight Dragon’s masterplan for the peninsula sees mixed-use development on the temporary cinema and theatre site, but that won’t be for some years to come.
The two sites should boost Cable Car usage which was again busy last week when using it.
