Dartford town centre housing plans at two sites submitted

Proposals to create new homes in Dartford at two town centre sites have been submitted.

Firstly there’s a proposal at 45 High Street, Dartford for “8 self-contained residential apartments on the upper floors and in the roof and Class E commercial floorspace at ground floor.”

That building was previously up for auction with a guide price of £625,000. It’s Grade II* listed. I vaguely recall it being a pound shop type place.

Built in the 18th century it became homes to Dartford Council in 1910, before they moved to far bigger offices close to the railway station.

Secondly there’s an application for a rooftop extension at 11-27 Hythe Street which would see five flats.

That building was formerly home to the town’s Post Office and recently seen conversion work creating 21 flats before the latest application for an additional five.
