Stratford station to see disruption until Monday after fire

A fire just outside Stratford station that broke out on Friday 10th July will cause continued disruption until at least Monday.

Fire saw trains halted and passengers evacuated from trains while the station was closed.

Greater Anglia state “extensive damage the fire has caused to some railway signalling and telecoms equipment. Service cancellations and alterations are expected until at least Monday 13th July 2026.”

Images show damage caused to equipment from the blaze which hit greenery running beside tracks, impacting a wide variety of services including the Elizabeth line, Greater Anglia, London Overground, DLR services and the tube following the station’s closure.

A number of services did resume on Saturday though cancellations are to continue throughout Sunday 12th July.

  • It’s all to do with the heatwave that can cause major problems to rail infrastructure. Especially when it comes to lineside fires, fatality on the railway or a broken down train.
