A quick look at two Woolwich town centre development sites
A quick update today on a couple of Woolwich town center developments which will bring more than a thousands new homes to the town.
Firstly and as seen above is Woolwich Central. A block in front of Tesco when viewed from General Gordon Square is seeing floor plates take shape as the core rises.

Carey are constructing the block for developer London Square.
Most new homes on forthcoming phases are to rise behind the store.

Phase three and four will total 712 homes.
Ropeyards
Not too far away beside Beresford Street is the forthcoming Ropeyards development from Berkeley Homes.

There was quite a bit of activity on site when passing on a bus.
This site will feature 660 homes when complete on what was the former Maribor Park.
When finished a “green strip” will run from a spot close to the Royal Arsenal Gatehouse towards the Thames.

The above image featured in the site’s planning application and doesn’t feature new student blocks now being built.
One main block is finished and an adjacent block is well underway. Between them 429 student rooms are included.
Last month I took a few photos of that site from different vantage points.
And that wraps up this brief look at Woolwich. Not the best pictures granted but hopefully of interest.

The London Square development keeps taking extra space presumably with Council approval.
The bus stop on Woolwich New Road beside Tesco has disappeared. This is a crew change point and the last stop on the 386. A 161 driver continued to Vincent Road with much bell ringing by annoyed passengers yesterday.
Buses have stopped stopping at this bus stop which is annoying. If the bus stop will be reinstated when the development isfinished we will have to wait and see. Personally being close to Tesco’s and a short cut yo Wellington Street for Woolwich Library and the Woolwich Centre I hope the bus stop is put back.
Is Tesco supermarket to remain or will it close and to be replaced with a rival supermarket like Aldi, Lidl, Waitrose, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons etc.
