Two Woolwich shops fined after council investigation

Two Woolwich businesses and members of staff have been fined after selling illegal cigarettes and a vape to children following council investigations.

A year ago in May 2025 a member of staff at Euro-Market on Hare Street in Woolwich sold a packet of non-UK compliant cigarettes to a 15-year old. Last month the employee Mr Hakimi was fined totalling £1,258 after appearing at Bexley Magistrates Court and pleading guilty.

In a separate case, Mr Adeelaslam sold a vape to a 15-year old whilst at a concession stall outside of convenience store Confectionary Box on Woolwich New Road.

Last month both Adeelaslam and business owner Mr Ali were fined £896 at Bexley Magistrates Court after pleading guilty.

  • Excellent news. Let’s hope we see more of these fines being issued or shops that continue to sell illegal vapes and cigarettes to children.closed down completely..

  • 100% agree Graham. We need to see many more of these dodgy businesses closed down completely. Along with hefty fines being issued.
The illegal vapes and cigarettes need to be ceased and destroyed..

Apart from fines. Check on the status of both owners and workers. As we know people are forced to work even without proper paperwork.
