Former Debenhams at The Glades in Bromley set for changes

Plans to alter parts of The Glades shopping centre in Bromley have been approved.

The former Debenhams unit has stood empty since 2021 and with changing shopping habits and a reduction in demand for department stores, plans went in last year for changes.

However Debenhams isn’t the only unit to be altered with the proposal also including Units 262, 65, 66 and 67 which comprise the former Debenhams, Superdry, Superdrug and basement levels.

Debenhams alone would be split into three units.

In addition work is set to be carried out outside on Elmfield Road with new green spaces and seating to for shoppers and those waiting for buses.

Superdry is now on the upper level nextdoor to the old Debenhams store, and Superdrug is all set to move from its current street level unit to what looks like a much bigger one a few metres’ away – I can’t remember what used to be there, but it was quite substantial.
