Greenwich riverside building conversion to begin in 2026

Now here’s a plan I’d completely forgotten about.

A riverside building in Greenwich at Highbridge Wharf is set to see conversion and extension work begin in February 2026 according to a new planning submission.

Back in 2020 two applications were refused for demolition and rebuilding on site. In 2023 plans to retain the structure and add an extension were approved. Windows facing the Thames will be enlarged.

Approved at the third time of asking

It was stated in the 2022 submission that “The brick building presently occupying the site was built in the 1930s to serve as offices and storage facilities for a shipping company.”

The site in question sits west of Greenwich power station and Trinity Hospital.

According to a construction management plan work should take around two years once it starts in February 2026.
