Greenwich station heritage restoration plan see more details

Plans to add a historic colour scheme and restore listed Greenwich station have seen further details submitted.

There’s not a whole lot more than last time but it may be of interest to some. Areas to see work include “the booking hall, including walls, columns, and timber joinery; the toilet area, including panelling and door/window frames; External window surrounds, quoins, plinths, and brick work; Platform 1 decorative features.”

Internal lights will also be deep cleaned.

Work was previously undertaken to restore and paint parts of the platform with heritage-style cream and green paint applied.

New colours scheme on platform

That colour scheme will extend to the main station building including the ticket booking area.

When complete it’ll match the recently restored station in Blackheath.

Waiting room

Areas including the ticket hall and waiting room have been restored.

Some nice signage has been applied to commemorate the event.

Does the restoration of the station include the outside road and pathway? You can see some unstable slabs which have sunk into the ground…. and some benches outside have been removed after they were destroyed a few months ago.

Surely if there is a restoration, you just go ahead and do the whole lot at once.

Looks like the main road just outside the station is being redone which is nice.
