Transport for London celebrate 25 years with blue livery
Transport for London are celebrating their 25th anniversary with a blue colour scheme being adopted on certain vehicles.
The blue front of the above DLR train was spotted last week and with new trains also now on regular tests in a light blue colour reminiscent of the Paris Metro, that’s three types of DLR livery currently evident.
In total a zero-emission bus, DLR train, Jubilee line train, Elizabeth line train, a tram, London Overground train and a Cable Car cabin have seen a splash of blue.
Transport for London as an organisation was formed on 3 July 2000.
It manages most forms of transport of course within London except London suburban or metro rail. Something long sought by Mayors of both Tory and Labour – and it even came close under the Tories until Chris Grayling arrived as Transport Secretary.
TfL may have hoped a 25th birthday present would see devolution of some rail services in London but as yet the Labour government has not supported a Labour mayor’s aspirations.

Better than those brown Bakerloop buses which look terrible!
Looks very nice. Plus the new B23 Stock are scheduled to enter service before the end of this year or in the beginning of 2026.
Very nice livery I must say. Plus I’m bit older than Transport for London.
I noticed one of these carriages and didn’t know what I was seeing. The wrap gives the old stock a fresh look. Maybe this was all that was needed rather than springing for new trains. 😉
