Blackheath station building sees renovation work underway
The main station building at Blackheath is seeing improvements currently being undertaken to both the inside and outside of the structure.
A cream and green colour scheme is now evident following on from work undertaken to restore and repaint the platforms and canopies.

Gone is the blue of old and peeling parts of the façade. Evidence of recent work was clear with wet paint stickers about.
The faded and crumbling paint outside is no more.

And in further news the Railway Heritage Trust – which are helping to fund the project – have today announced a further funding award for signage replacement.
The station is one of the busiest along the Eltham line and Grade II listed.

A similar colour scheme is now evident on the platforms with both the canopy and daggerboards restored and repainted.
Network Rail are currently undertaking repair works to a nearby tunnel linking the station with Charlton and the Woolwich line, with that project due to complete in five days time at the time of writing.

Renovation work at Blackheath station is also to be replicated at Greenwich station which recently saw plans submitted to improve the main station with heritage features.
Greenwich station also saw platform canopy restored and repainted with the main building next in line.

That was covered on this site about 11 days ago. Images of plans and links to planning documents can be found here.

Looks so much better. I wonder what is happening with the florist next door.
It looks stunning, really a great improvement.
@Levi, the florist has been gone for a long time now. I’ve heard several times someone supposedly taking it on but unfortunately it seems like they are just going to leave it empty until the long term leasehold expires
Appreciate the info, @Gwst, it’s a real shame how many shops are sitting empty these days.
At least Blackheath station is step-free as other railway station around Greater London that are to become step-free accessible or upgraded as step-free stations. And some stations that have been redeveloped or revamped.
