Greenwich development Saxon Wharf nearly complete: Will Creekside path finally open?
Work on a 145-home development in Greenwich is nearing the finishing line so it seemed opportune to go have a look at the site.
Saxon Wharf is located on Norman Road a couple of minute’s walk from Greenwich station. Notting Hill Genesis are behind the development.

As part of the project a new public space is to be opened beside Deptford Creek, on what was a former skip yard.
That should connect to another stretch of Creekside path constructed over a decade ago but shut to the public ever since.

When Saxon Wharf was approved it was stated that the closed stretch of path would finally open, and so now all eyes are on whether that actually happens.
In time a public path should stretch some distance on the Greenwich side of the Creek, with work now underway on a 27-floor tower to the north.

A post on that site will follow having taken a couple of dozen photos last week.
Land to the south of Saxon Wharf was used as a Thames Tideway construction site and now sits empty. Greenwich Council’s draft Local Plan foresees housing on site.
In total a “mixed use scheme including light industrial and residential uses alongside public access to Deptford Creek” would see around 270 homes.
When the new path opens (and the existing path beside joins it as it should) I’ll go visit to take some photos.
