Gym to open at former Wilko in Erith
Plans are in to open a branch of Puregym at Wilko in Erith shopping centre.
Unit 13 has been empty since Wilko left back in September 2022. It occupies two storeys with access on the lower ground floor via Pier Road to the south and the shopping arcade to the north.
The centre dates from the 1960s when much of the town centre was flattened, and in recent years has struggled to attract tenants.
It was purchased in 2021 by BYM Capital who state: “There is significant development potential at Erith Riverside Shopping Centre. BYM Capital is exploring opportunities for a large scale, residential-led redevelopment and repositioning project in collaboration with the London Borough of Bexley” but little has emerged.
Puregym have numerous branches locally including Woolwich and Charlton with others set to open in Welling and Thamesmead.
